Will fluxbuntu be completely independent  of KDE and Gnome and have it's own cd ?
Also will it be compiled with KDE , Gnone and Imlib2 prefix
What size ISO are we looking at.

A couple of tools that would help new comers to fluxbuntu would be fluxMenu, FluxStyle and FluxConfig are these planned to be included?
One last thing... Will we see eye candy?  conky, adesklets, true transparencies and things like Artwiz fonts (or at least a tool or script to enable them)

Sorry so many questions.

I think this is a great project and am looking forward to using it, either with an older system of mine or on my full time system if most of the above is going to happen.

Thanks

Yes the 1st Final Release will be completely independent of the KDE and Gnome environments (except for application support read below). We are planning to either have seperate Install and LiveCD releases OR have a LiveCD with Install Option so that people can boot up Fluxbuntu and see how they like it and if they want to install they can.

If I understand your question correctly then yes, you will be able to run KDE and Gnome applications on Fluxbuntu Linux.

It is hard to say until we generate the CD images themselves. It should be smaller that the Ubuntu Desktop CD since there are alot of things we do not include. One example of this being the Open Office Suite, we do not inlcude that in Fluxbuntu, so that is already 200MB less than the UBuntu Desktop CD.

Yes. This tools are included in Fluxbuntu.

By default? No. We strive for an lightweight linux working environment and like the agility of Fluxbuntu. BUT will we probably include a package that you could sudo apt-get install to install some extra eye candy for those of you who like a well themed customized Fluxbuntu with those eye candy enablers you mentioned since there are people who want that.

Not at all. Wink It was a pleasure answering them. Questions like these give users more of an idea of what the OS will be like.

Excellent!  I think the project will go far and everyone will enjoy it. I know I will.
Maybe Fluxbox will be out of release candidate stage and we will see a fluxbox 1.0 and fluxbuntu 1.0  kinda cool  Grin

WWW

well we have been in talks with the fluxbox developer team about including 1.0rc in Fluxbuntu because the package in the Ubuntu repository is at Version 0.9.14-2. If 1.0 is released soon there IS a chance that 1.0 will be included, but at the current moment it is probably going to be Version 1.0rc.

Hi Joe,
Xubuntu guys are thinking about including fluxbox/icewm as alternative wm in the future version (Edgy?). Are you in touch with them?

Hi Joe......

I've only just found out (in the last few days) about Fluxbuntu..... Superb idea, and i can't wait to see the initial release! I don't know a great deal about Fluxbox, but i've tried it several times & know that it's fast & sleek. I think tied in with the Ubuntu core it'll be a great Distro. I've been using Xubuntu (as well as several other distros) lately, and that rocks, but XFCE, while good, is still quite buggy in certain areas.

Any idea when the first release will be? (Are you close or is it still some way off?)

Anyway, just wanted to say hi & put my first post in! Smiley  Really looking forward to this..... it could be the start of something quite amazing!

The first stable major release will be Fluxbuntu Launch 1. Right now we are in the developmental stage, working on different aspects of Fluxbuntu. The first public developmental release is Fluxbuntu nBuild1 Alpha. I am quite happy that you have join this community of those interested in this project.
